BIOGRAPHY
Born in the north of the Netherlands in the year of the dragon. Son of two well-respected, hard working local entrepeneurs. Gregory Orange, songwriter, autodidact and above all: creator.
Gregory wrote his first songs on the organ of his grandparents when he was 6 years old. Ten years later he started his first rock band called ‘Stoned Ass Frog‘. For this band Gregory wrote a lot of songs, partly together with Motogucci. Although the band mostly did shows in the north of the Netherlands, Stoned Ass Frog also toured in countries like Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. The band reached her peak in 1996/1997 – the ‘Blue Suede‘ period – when the band wrotes her most legendary songs.
Right after that the band stopped. It was this period that he started to organize a lot of cultural events in the town where he grew up. Between 1997 and 2005 Gregory wrote and recorded tons of songs and ideas at home. A selection of these recordings can be found on 3 demo albums: ‘Car Without Brakes’, ‘Subject For My Illusions’ and ‘Undefined Sofa Sketches’. In this period Gregory only did one solo show, a remarkable one, at the Stenovicum festival in 2003.
In 2004 Gregory felt that he needed to hit the stage again. He started together with Marzj (ex-League of XO Gentlemen) the indie rock band The May Bees. The band released two records so far: ‘Fake Around EP‘ (2005) and the mini album ‘Blame It On The Other Ones‘ (2006). With The May Bees Gregory did his first tour through the USA and Canada late 2006.
